These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of dcspot.com and the content, newsletters, and services offered through it (together, the “Site”). The Site is operated by AlexH Media LLC, a Virginia limited liability company doing business as DC Spot (“DC Spot,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. What the Site is
DC Spot publishes guides, articles, and newsletters about events, restaurants, neighborhoods, and real estate across Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. The Site is provided for general information and entertainment. It is not professional, legal, financial, tax, or investment advice.
2. Event, venue, and pricing information
We work hard to verify dates, hours, prices, and locations before we publish, and we note the date each guide was last checked. Organizers and businesses change details without notice, and we do not control them. Always confirm the details with the organizer or venue before you go, buy tickets, or travel. Prices and availability shown on the Site may not include taxes, fees, or later changes. We are not responsible for cancellations, sold-out events, closures, or changes made by third parties.
3. Sponsored content and editorial independence
Some articles, newsletter placements, and social posts are paid for by a business or organization. When content is sponsored, we label it clearly (“Sponsored,” “Paid partnership,” or similar wording) in line with the Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides. Sponsorship does not change the facts we report, and we do not publish claims we have not been able to verify. Reviews displayed on the Site are genuine reviews left on Google by real people and are shown through a third-party review widget. We do not write, buy, or edit reviews.
4. Real estate information
Alex Hussein is a real estate salesperson licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia and affiliated with Fox Homes Team at Samson Properties, whose main office is in Chantilly, Virginia. Real estate brokerage services are provided through that brokerage, not by AlexH Media LLC. Nothing on the Site creates an agency, client, or fiduciary relationship, and no such relationship exists until a written brokerage agreement is signed. 5. Newsletter, contact forms, and text messages
When you subscribe to the newsletter you will receive emails from DC Spot. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. When you use a contact form you agree that we may respond by email, phone, or text message about your inquiry. Text message terms, including how to stop messages, are set out in our Privacy Policy.
6. Sponsored content and media services
If you hire DC Spot for sponsored posts, newsletter placements, articles, or other media services, those services are governed by the written quote or agreement we send you, together with these Terms and our Refund and Cancellation Policy. If a signed agreement conflicts with these Terms, the signed agreement controls for that engagement.
7. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise noted, the text, photos, videos, graphics, logos, and design of the Site are owned by AlexH Media LLC or used under license, and are protected by United States and international copyright and trademark laws. Some images are used under Creative Commons licenses or with the permission of the organizer, brand, or photographer; those images are credited where they appear and remain the property of their owners. Brand names and logos shown in our media kit belong to their respective owners and appear only to identify past collaborations.
You may share links to our pages and quote short excerpts with attribution and a link back to the source. You may not copy, republish, scrape, or redistribute substantial portions of the Site, or use our content to train or build a competing product, without our written permission. 8. Your submissions
If you send us tips, photos, comments, or other material, you confirm that you own it or have the right to share it, and you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it in connection with DC Spot. We will credit you where practical. Do not send us anything confidential or anything you do not have the right to share.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Site to break any law, to interfere with the Site or its security, to send spam, to scrape content at scale, to impersonate anyone, or to upload malicious code. We may block access to anyone who misuses the Site.
10. Third-party links and services
The Site links to event organizers, ticket sellers, restaurants, and other third-party sites, and uses third-party tools such as Kit (email), Calendly (scheduling), Google (analytics and reviews), and Meta (advertising measurement). We do not control those sites and services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AlexH Media LLC, its owner, and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us for the specific service at issue, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold harmless AlexH Media LLC and its owner from claims, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, that arise from your misuse of the Site or your violation of these Terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please contact us at hello@dcspot.com so we can try to resolve it.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
