Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 7, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tools dcspot.com (operated by AlexH Media LLC, doing business as DC Spot) uses, why, and how you can control them. It is part of our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are set by us (first-party) and some by services we use (third-party). We also use similar tools such as pixels, scripts, and browser storage. Below, “cookie” covers all of these.

Your choices

  • The notice on the Site. The first time you visit, a small notice lets you accept or opt out of analytics and advertising cookies. You can change your choice any time using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer. Opting out stops Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel from loading on this Site.
  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out automatically.
  • Your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the Site from working.
  • Google and Meta. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on and adjust ad preferences in your Meta ad settings.

Do we need your consent?

DC Spot is a local publication for the Washington DC area and does not direct its Site to residents of the European Union or United Kingdom. United States law does not require a consent banner for analytics cookies, but some state privacy laws give residents the right to opt out of targeted advertising. We honor opt-outs and Global Privacy Control signals for everyone, regardless of where you live.
