Sloomoo Institute Opens at Tysons Corner Center With a Slime Lake and DIY Slime Bar

Sloomoo Institute has opened at Tysons Corner Center, bringing a slime lake, a make-your-own slime bar and a place to get covered in slime to Northern Virginia. Its grand-opening celebration is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The attraction goes by Sloomoo Institute DC, but the address is in Tysons, Virginia. Inside, visitors move between rooms built around touching, stretching, smelling and playing with slime. The two-level, 17,000-square-foot space is a permanent addition to the mall, according to the opening announcement published by TysonsToday.

There are a couple of details to know before booking: making a take-home slime is included with admission, but standing under the slime shower costs extra. Here’s what’s inside and how to plan a visit.

What can you do inside Sloomoo Institute?

Sloomoo says the Tysons location has more than 13 experience areas and over 500 gallons of slime throughout the venue. Some stations are built around different textures and scents; others turn slime into something you can walk across or use to make music. The official location page lists the current attractions.

Walk across Lake Sloomoo

Lake Sloomoo lets visitors take off their shoes and step onto slime. The yellow and orange sections sit alongside a winding path, so the activity is as much about the texture under your feet as the room itself.

This is one reason to wear clothes you can move around in and shoes that are easy to take off. Leave room in your plans to try the stations rather than treating the visit as a quick photo stop.

Make a slime to take home

The DIY bar is included with a ticket. Visitors choose a texture, color, scent and charms to create their own slime, which goes home with them afterward.

The opening announcement lists eight textures, 60 scents, 40 colors and 120 charms. In the photos, the bar is lined with jars of colored slime and shelves of small additions. If your family is mainly interested in making something, this is the part to keep in mind when comparing admission with the optional upgrades.

Make music and try the slingshot

At Groov’s Grove, touching slime triggers musical sounds. There are also projection-filled spaces and a slime slingshot, where a clear barrier separates the person being aimed at from the slime.

Is the slime shower included?

Getting slimed at Sloomoo Falls is included with VIP Admission, not General Admission. The booking page describes VIP as general admission plus the slime shower. General-admission visitors can watch. Check that distinction before choosing tickets if getting slime poured over you is the main reason for going.

The Sloomoo Falls shower is an optional upgrade.

What happens at the September 19 grand opening?

Tysons Corner Center lists a grand-opening celebration for September 19. Announced plans include a DJ, entertainment, pop-ups, a nine-foot stilt walker and free slime for the first 100 guests.

Check the mall’s event listing before leaving for the latest celebration details. The free-slime giveaway should not be confused with free admission to the attraction.

Tickets, ages and what to know before going

Ticket prices vary by date and time. When checked on September 18, the September 19 at 10:30 a.m. session displayed General Admission at $45.99 per person, including a $4 administration fee and $2.60 sales tax. VIP Admission for that same session was $72.99, including a $4 fee and $4.13 tax. Those are examples for one session, not fixed prices for every visit.

Use the booking calendar to compare times and review the current total before paying.

Everyone age 2 and older needs a ticket, including accompanying adults. The company recommends its products for ages 4 and up; the booking page requires children younger than 14 to be accompanied by a ticketed adult. Complete the required waiver before arriving.

For a quieter visit, look for designated sensory-friendly hours. Those sessions reduce capacity and sound, with Sloomoo Falls and the slingshot paused. Confirm available sessions on the location’s calendar.

Wear something comfortable, tie back long hair and keep sleeves out of the slime. Plan around your reserved entry time and check the day’s hours rather than assuming they match the mall’s.
